I can lay out patterns to either section or burn in an image. Here is something that you might enjoy doing in addition to the bowls I have seen here which has been well done. So that you will get your segments right in case you decide to do so here is the Formula: Diameter x 3.1416= circumerence. Divide no. of segments desired= outer length of segment. Set the hexagon in Xara (to the number of segments you want)will make it all easier. You will see one done in Southwest style with 12 pcs. approx. Real like diameter is approx. 11". Eventually you will see my web site using Xara products for graphics.

Made a platter pattern in XaraX. Color is not important. It the design in the middle. In fact when making these in wood no. of segments not important. Popular is used so it can be colored and then designs is wood burned in. Designs can also be made by bookmatching which will give geodesic lines. I also can hand carved what is done on the computer and I all I need is guidelines. I should hope the finished work is better than my drawings.

This is a really cool use of XARA. Will you then use these patters to wordburn objects?

You bet you can use Xara to make patterns to woodburn. Just print out. Reduce as needed, trace and go to it. Basswood and popular works great because you can color it. Here is a look inside a bowl that has a bookmatched pattern. With that you don't always know what you will end up with.
