Center of an Equilateral Triangle - please lower it.
Try this: 1. Create a circle with a diameter of 6 inches. 2. Create an equilateral triangle that is 5.175 inches wide. Center the two objects to the middle of a page.
Shouldn't the triangle be in the center of circle?
Edit: The workaround I have found is to use a hexagon and then when you have it in the right position, convert it to a triangle.
This is inconvenient and unintuitive.

That's a hard one and I have noticed this before.
Xara is centering on the physical center of the triangle (see attached).
Re: Center of an Equilateral Triangle - please lower it.
if you are using the object alignment tool then that works on the boundary box,the centre of which is not the centre of a triangle on account of it [the boundary box] being rectangular and bigger, so there is displacement - likely this will happen with any odd sided polygon on account of it not being symmetric, whereas the boundary box is
not sure if there is anyway round that other than the way you already do it...
Re: Center of an Equilateral Triangle - please lower it.
The alignment dialog uses bounding boxes to align objects. It knows nothing about the detailed geometry of the objects.
However, the snapping system does understand the geometry of objects and so if you create the triangle using the Quickshape tool, make sure snapping is turned on and the drag the triangle into position it will snap its geometrical centre to the centre of the circle.

thanks Phil - that does indeed align them by the centres
