DDS file game texture skins suppoorted format in designer X?

Hi,

I want to edit my eurotruck simulator skins, they are dds files, Xara X says it is not a supported file.

What can I do please?

I want to soup up my Scania V8!

You'll need a dedicated raster application to open and edit them.
Try IrfanView, it will at least open them. Then you can copy and paste into Xara Designer Pro, but you won't be able to save out as DDS.
Probably better to use PhotoShop after installing the DDS plugin

so, bottom line? I cannot use Xara to export. So, I can edit them in Xara and save them as photoshop files and then?

...I cant afford to buy photoshop as well...besides I like xara its simple!

You can edit in Xara then get Paint.net(free) and save as with paint.net in to DDS

Ok, thanks for that. I just installed GIMP with a plug in ...that does it too. although thats another steep learning curve..lol...

I used to do Flight sim repaints and they used DXT format and I had to convert to bmp the edit and reconvert back to DXT/DDS formats. For game object skin Xara is not a good program for editing those texture maps. Sorry guys I found something XARA can't do correctly.

Xara Designer doesn't set out to import, edit and save .DDS or .DXT - so it's not something Xara does incorrectly, simply not supported formats.

Remember, Xara Designer is not a pixel (raster) editing application like PhotoShop or Paint.Net or Gimp or..........

I use various programs including Corel Draw X6 ,Photoshop CS6 .ect Xara is a new entity to me, I bought it and find it does Make Graphics that that take many steps in apps like PS or Corel and simplifies it, But I'm so Photoshop oriented that it's tough to transition to Xara as a primary Application for my needs.
