Changing Line Width - AI CS5
We convert AI files into DXF files to use in our CNC Cutting
process. I.E. AI/EPS/PDF > Export DXF > CAD Import
More and more we're receiving files that have wide lines
that translate into 'boxes' rather than 'single' lines. This
prevents us from combining lines into a contiguous shape.
Have attempted ' flatten transparency ', which in the past
seemed to solve it. More recently, no effect.
We then essentially have to 'redraw' the file by hand in CAD.
( Tracing only works if lines are 'unbroken'. )
Is there a simple way to change the AI lines to 0.00 width,
or at least a very small width? .0078" ?
Thank you.

Re: Changing Line Width - AI CS5
You can easily have that size just use the Stroke Panel! Don't know if it exports ccorrectly as I have no CAD programmes in my machines.
Re: Changing Line Width - AI CS5
Hi Slind. If you like you can email a file that is causing you the most problems and I’ll take a look at this end for you. Then I can send back the results to you. I have had many years experience in CNC conversions. Glad to help if I can.

Re: Changing Line Width - AI CS5
Using the stroke panel resolved the issue.
The exported file functioned in CAD perfectly.
This is also useful for determining if objects
are not truly vector, but rather symbols or
images saved as AI files, or not completely
converted. Being several steps downstream
from the composer, it can be challenging to
determine what was done or the original
intent.
Thank you for your help.
