Removing the inside of a letter?
Hi,
How do I remove the inside of a letter out so I can put a photo behind it.
if I create a new layer that is red, then type the letter D in black. How would I delete the inside of the letter D so all I am left with is a red layer with the outline of the D in it, then I can import a photo as a new layer that is below the red layer.
I basically want to be able to frame the photo with any letter of the alphabet.
I hope some of that makes sense.
Thanks

Re: Removing the inside of a letter?
Hello
Unless I am misunderstanding you, you want the letter to be in outline. If you set the Line Width to the size you want the outline and set the Fill Color to transparent. (By clicking on the icon, just to the right of the Eye-Dropper in the Color Bar)

For what you seem to be attempting (to my understanding), I would have the letter fill be the image bitmap. Since you can set the fill color to a bitmap (ie. your picture), then you can use that method to have the picture fit the inside of the text and still have your thick outline around the image. Because it's all one object, everything "travels" and resizes together.

Re: Removing the inside of a letter?
Hi James, thanks for the reply.
I'm quite new to corel draw and it's a bit of a learning curve, could you explain the steps the achieve this? I don't know how to set the letter to outline, where do I find letter fill? If you could write some simple instructions that would be great.
I know how to do it in Photoshop but the text print poorly.
Thanks for the help, this is exactly what I'm looking to do.

Sorry, it was my mistake...
That's a correct method, but for Designer Pro.

Re: Removing the inside of a letter?
Ok, will method not work for corel draw?
Re: Removing the inside of a letter?
from memory I think you may need to select texture fill as your option in the fill tool - in order for this to work you would need your photo loaded into corel draw as a texture
there may be a quicker way..

Re: Removing the inside of a letter?
This is very easy to do in CorelDraw, using the PowerClip feature.
Attached is a zipped version of the .cdr file which is pictured in this post.

Re: Removing the inside of a letter?
HI, you can type the letter of the alphabet you want then place it above your image and select both the letter and image, at your property bar above you would see the intersect tool, click it and that should do the trick,,,,
