Can anyone tell me if it is possible to rescale a lot of objects without simultaneously rescaling the distance between them? I have about 500 circles, all .3cm diameter, that I'd like to change to .4 diameter, while retaining the positions of their centres?

Select all, then use the contour tool to give them a contour of .05 cm, then click "Inset path".

You should also be able to set the size of multiple circles using the Width and Height fields on the Ellipse tool infobar. This has the advantage of the objects still being circles rather than changing to be shapes (bezier path objects).

Mmh, whenever I try increasing the size, the circles get further apart; could I be missing something?
You need to be in the Ellipse (circle) tool (e.g. select the circles you want to change and then hit 'L') and then make sure the drop down list says "Width and height".

Now I see... Good one. I've only been using this program around 10 years (lol); I guess there's always something to learn.
