Re: get transparent background in swf or flv files.
Hi gl, unfortunately I don't know how to do this in AE, but you can do it in Flash, Dreamweaver or by editing the HTML page directly:
In Flash
- File > Publish Settings > HTML
- Under WMODE, select "Transparent"
- Publish
In Dreamweaver
- Enter Design View
- Select the Flash movie
- In the Properties panel, select Parameters
- Type "wmode" (without quotes)
- For Value, enter "transparent"
- Save
Edit the HTML:
- Add the following inside the movie's OBJECT tag: <param name="wmode" value="transparent">
- Add the following inside the movie's EMBED tag: wmode="transparent"
- Save
I hope this helps :thx

But surely, if the video has been shot on a black background nothing in the video embed tag will change that - you have to first create the video with an alpha channel

Yep, that's correct. If the flash file is simply a flash embedded video then you can manipulate the parameters as much as you like but the background will always be the background of the video file, not the flash file.
