Does anyone know how to get this effect?
Hello Everyone,
I am designing another logo and I wanted to know how I could go about getting a 'glossy' effect for my image and text. I attached a sample of what I am talking about.
I already know how to do the reflection, but the gloss part has me baffled. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me.

There are various ways to achieve that glossy, reflective effect (clipview etc) but my favourite because it is so simple is a multiple graduated fill. Easiest way is to show you:

Tada :thx

Beret,
That's a wonderful idea and I think I know how to do that. Thanks!
Re: Does anyone know how to get this effect?
Are you using a Xara product? The only reason I ask is that Xara is the fastest drawing application available and after many years of designing for both print and web I find them so much easier to use than any other product. You can download any of Xara's drawing packages here for free:

Have fun! :thx

Yeh, you can check the users profile Frank and see if a member has noted their software in the 'Xara Software' field.
This new version of vbulletin has overwritten the posts template so it no longer shows here.

To get the curved "reflection" in the circular bits, use an intersecting circle with a transparency gradient. The quick way to achieve it is to create your circle and position it where you want it, then select the underlying shape, press CTRL+K to clone it, then select both it and the new circle and press CTRL+3 to cut out the unwanted portion of the new shape. Now you just have to play with the transparency of the cut-out to get the right look. I'd try flat transparency first, then a circular transparency gradient if you need more control. You could even try a combination of a colour and transparency gradient for even more detail.

This was just my unsubtle way of getting the keyword phrases "drawing package" "download" and "free" on the same page as

Oops, there I go again. Silly me... ;))

I would use the following way, avoiding the need for clipviews and transparencies:
- Draw your circle
- Click your text and click Copy
- Click your circle and click Paste Attributes
- Select the Fill tool and choose Circular from the "Fill type" droplist
Then all you have to do is change the angle of the fill. This image was created using the same fill every time, just different colours:

Beret,
That logo looks GOOD. You just gave me a great idea.
Thank you.
