Website not showing the same as in preview
Hi,
When I view a page in my browser it doesn't show the same as in Xara preview. The pop-up and pop-up link has moved to another position. I have attached two screendumps showing preview and the screen in Explorer.
First file is preview. Second is website in Explorer and third is page in Xara.
What am I doing wrong now?
Best regards
Danni
Re: Website not showing the same as in preview
Is the preview browser and Internet Explorer both the same width?
I am not sure if this has anything to do with the problem. But it is something to check.
Re: Website not showing the same as in preview
Forms (<form>) are something each browser might show (render) slightly differently. They can be controlled with element classes to a high degree, but this means you need an additional external stylesheet and a reference in the head to it.

Thanks for your replies!
I don't think it has anything to do with the width of the preview browser and Explorer - I have checked.
Probably, it has something to do with browsers showing forms differently as Sledger suggests. But I have absolutely no knowledge of stylesheets, element classes etc. Is there no alternative solution?
Best regards,
Dan

Not that I know of.
Xara html filter has no control over non-WYSYWYG 'browser rendered' objects, which includes forms. You'll notice that different browsers will even render form submit buttons differently, though this can be overcome by using an image button type.
eg: <input type="image" src="mybutton.gif" alt="Submit button">
This is an area where HTML knowledge is definitely required, so falls outside the Xara demographic for Web Designer.

Okay, so I have to find a different way to somehow show the content of the pop-up:( Thanks for your replies :)

Re: Website not showing the same as in preview
It's not the popup (the purple rectangle) that moves, this is an absolute positioned object. It's the form beneath it on that page which is rendered differently relative to the page.
And alternative to HTML forms are flash forms. These render the same no matter the browser.
CoffeeCup software has a popular flash form maker.

Oh, I see. Great! I'll try CoffeCup. Thanks again Sledger.
