Request that original UI be maintained.
It has been said that the ability to switch from the Dark UI to the original lighter UI may be dropped in future releases.
The Dark UI as it currently exists does not work for all users. For some it causes eye strain and depression. Some dialogs are unreadable and some icons are not recognizeable.
I understand that maintaining two UIs require more resources.
However, if only one UI is to be maintained I feel that the one requiring 3rd party software and possibly licensing fees is the one that should be dropped.
I understand that money may have already been spent towards licensing fees. However, that should not be considered as justification to continue spending money for future releases.
Re: Request that original UI be maintained.
Sorry, but to my mind, updating the UI to one that requires 3rd party software, is the real definition of bloat ...
Now that having been said, I do like the dark UI. ..... And I really hate the new icons.
Re: Request that original UI be maintained.
I didn't like the smaller toolbar buttons on the light interface when I tried it, I prefer the slightly bigger ones on the dark interface. Not sure which is best though because I've only really used the dark one.
Re: Request that original UI be maintained.
well I've given the dark another go all day - but I'm back with the light
adobe have got it right here.............
Re: Request that original UI be maintained.
xtom in the original interface you have the option of making the icons larger. In the dark interface the icons are only available as large.
Re: Request that original UI be maintained.
Add my vote for retaining the light interface. Please, please, please.
Also agreed that the icons in the dark UI are not attractive. They don't even look professional.
Re: Request that original UI be maintained.
Though I like the dark interface I'm not a fan of the new icons at all, for instance ‘clone’ and ‘paste at same position’ look similar because of the red lines and I keep making mistakes because of that, thus slowing me down as I pause to check each time. However all that said I remember hating to change of icons a few years back until I got used to them so maybe that’s all it needs. I agree the new icons don't look 'professional though which is another factor against them. If you revert to the lighter interface do the icons stay the same or revert to the old ones? I must admit I haven’t tried as I didn’t want to upset my present no flyouts arrangement and have to do all that again.
Derek
PS we should all count our blessings that the UI in Designer wasn't made to match that of Magix Photo7 which I've just opened for the first time to see what it was like.

Hi Derek,
In the original interface (light colour) the icons are the same as XXP5 and older versions.

Re: Request that original UI be maintained.
Hi Fred,
It is in the Xara folder within All Programs. It has been a part of the Xtreme install for several versions now. I know XXP4 has the program.
