web properties: link to page overrides link to web address
Hi,
I am building a website consisting of 9 Xreme files, each file contains several pages.
Have made a button bar (same for all the pages in all the files) and each button is linked to a webaddress like
- 01index.htm
- o1 samen.htm
- 02 ver.htm
- etc
I can export the webpages and they work ok, but when I save the Xarafile all links are changed and when I reload it webproperties have changed from "link to webaddress" to "link to page" and all have the leading number of the webpage like 01samen or 02ver
anyone any ideas? this drives me crazy for weeks now.>:)

This sounds correct Ike.
I have moved this thread as it has been posted in the wrong forum.
Please take care where you post new topics.
Thanks

Hi
what do you mean wit "this sounds correct"? That it should work that way?
Then I really would disagree, because Xtreme shouldn't override automatically what I deliberately set by hand.
Anyone any suggestion please? I could put almost 100 pages in one file but I don't think the program can handle that (as I suppose I have read on the forums).

Re: web properties: link to page overrides link to web address
If you are linking to another page within the *same* document, then yes - the correct method is to use the "link to page". Xtreme is just automatically correcting this for you.
For example, if you entered 02 ver.htm in the "link to webaddress" area, you may end up with http://02 ver.htm which would ruin your linking. Xara's intelligent html filter detects pages that are in the same document (and therefore will be in the same location on export) and corrects this.
If you really really must have those URLs in the "link to webaddress" area, please enter the absolute path (eg: http://www.mydomain.com/02 ver.htm)

I don't understand this. If I didn't tick "correct automatically" it always worked fine and I could split my website in files for each "main-button" and have many pages in each file. When saved as a webpage this would result in pages linking perfectly to each-other on my published website.
The automatic correction is only good when having an external link in the form of e.g www.xara.com.
Why should I want to make a file(document) containing maybe hundreds of pages and turning my computer to a halt when I can split them in documents using thispage link setting?
Is there a way to set this in "choices"?
