'Failed to register the DLLs required by the program.'
Hi,
I have just recently upgraded to Windows7 and receive this error note
'Failed to register the DLLs required by the program.' when I try and use Webstyle 4.
I am using Dreamweaver CS4 and had no problems with Webstyle 4 until now.
Can you please advise of a fix.
Thank you
Re: 'Failed to register the DLLs required by the program.'
I have moved your thread to the correct forum for this question.
Webstyle was not written to run on Windows Vista or Windows 7 which means it is unaware of the new requirements & conditions of those OSes for software which has to write to the registry during setup and then once on first run.
The application link libraries ( .dll files) must be registered (keys written to the registry) for the software to work.
In short, remove Webstyle and then re run the setup following the suggestions described here.
Re: 'Failed to register the DLLs required by the program.'
This problem is caused by the UAC ( User Account Control ).
Turn off the UAC, re-boot your computer, and you should be able to complete the Installation of Webstyle..
If you're unsure how to turn off the UAC, go to the Windows help section and type "How do I turn off the UAC? " and it will lead you through the process.
After the installation is complete you may turn the UAC back on, if you so desire, and Webstyle will continue to function as it should.

Re: 'Failed to register the DLLs required by the program.'
Sorry, but this is not good advice Andy.
Better to install legacy software with the correct permissions as previously pointed out. Nuisance or not, UAC is there for a very good reason.
Re: 'Failed to register the DLLs required by the program.'
I edited my previous entry.
The UAC inhibits the installation of Webstyle.
Once the installation is complete the UAC can be turned back on and Webstyle will work as it is supposed to.

Andy you should have been able to install Webstyle on Vista and/or Windows 7 by setting the compatability mode to XP.
