Handwriting Recognition (Image to text)
Hi, I am looking for any handwriting recognition software that able to convert image to text.
For example a + b = c (handwriting=image) to be "a plus b equal to c" instead of "a + b = c" like other handwriting recognition software does.
Try searching but didn't find any.:( Please help. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but I don't understand the question. Can you elaborate.
Re: Handwriting Recognition (Image to text)
Hi welcome
Like Keith I am not sure exactly what you mean.. but if you want something to convert drawn characters into text you need an OCR program
the one I use is here :
http://www.abbyy.com/products/document_conversion/ [EDIT: correct up to date link substituted]
I use it because it came with my scanner - I do not recommended it over any other
After you have converted to text, you can use a word processor 'find and replace' function to substitute one character for a word string or whatever..
Re: Handwriting Recognition (Image to text)
I think Cactuzs means, instead of the program using the "+" and "=" characters, it substitutes the words "plus" and "equal to".
Re: Handwriting Recognition (Image to text)
Hi all, thanks for the reply.
Thanks John, that is exactly what I meant.
To Keith and Steve, I am looking for something like this http://www.penreader.com/mswindows-s...PenReader.html.
However the software above is not able to substitute "=" or "+" sign as word string.

I didn't even know it was possible. However the phrase "like other handwriting recognition software does" implies that not only do you know it exists, but that most of the other recognition software works this way. Confusing!
Re: Handwriting Recognition (Image to text)
Hi Keith
Let me give u an example
If I write 20 + 5 = 25. Using handwriting software (eg: PenReader 6.0) it will substitue exactly "20 + 5 = 25"
But, I need a recognition software (if it is possible/exists) that be able to substitute it into word string which is " twenty plus five equal to twenty-five".
I hope this is clear enough. Thanks for helping.
Re: Handwriting Recognition (Image to text)
ok
I guess if you have a recognition program that lets you write macro's you might be able to do it, but if you are writing into a text program like word you can always use find and replace to make changes afterwards of course, and I wouldnt mind betting that is what you are 'expected' to do
Broadly speaking programs like penreader try to convert exactly what you write, that is the point is it not?
If you want 'plus' is there any reason you do not write it in the first place?
Just trying to understand the problem here :)
