I like it (even though Taz isn't my favorite toon character)
You could try using stroke shapes on the lines to give the image a more hand drawn impression.
hi Glenn,
Nice rendition of Taz, although Warner bros, more specifically their lawyers might object to you publishing there copyrighted image on the net.
Thanks John... now I have to look over my shoulder?... (who are those suspicious looking people?).... Hey, I'm not looking for any $. It was just a challenge.
I don't think you have anything to worry about Glenn. You are not asking for money and you did not place your own copyright signature on the image.
I think it's an excellent illustration!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Thumbs up!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Maybe warner Brothers might not chase him, but I would not draw that dumb mouse from disney. Sheesh, those guys probably have mouse cops and everything... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Yea... the new Mouseketeers... Lawyers with briefcases and mouse ears.
Certainly the copyright holders have their own rights. What is less understood is that posting copyright infringing works here compromises our host - perhaps even more than the individual posting the work. Talkgraphics.com is generously supported by Xara Ltd. as a service to graphics software users. If a copyright holder felt harmed they might well go after Xara and not the posting individual.
We should not post works that infringe someone else's copyright - out of respect for the holder's rights and out of respect for our host for whom we could be creating a liability.
That said you did a great job Glen.
Regards, Ross
Well I certainly meant no harm, it was just the result of trying to learn Xara and see if I can produce a simple image. If anyone at TG feels that this will cause a problem, the mod(s) can delete this thread... and I'll have to pick another subject to practice on.
But thanks for all positive remarks.
Glenn
Glenn,
The work is great, you did a good job. We were not saying that at all. The subject matter to practice on was great and you did a great job. What we were warning you about was publishing (via here on the internet) a copyrighted image.
Copyright infringement runs rampant anymore, and it is even worse on the net. When we see someone going down that road, it is our job as graphics professionals to protect the works of other artists. That is why we warned you. You can draw Mickey, minnie, Dopey, bugs and any othe characters you want for practice, but you can not publish them... Leagal term for posting here.
If you write to Warner Brothers, and have them take a look at the post, and the responses, then they just might give you permission to use the drawing. Technically, tho, without permission, the moderators would have to delete the image...
