Can updates to Corel Draw 8 be installed in XP?
I have successfully installed Corel Draw 8 in Windows XP. However if I try and install the updates I get a 16 bit virtual device driver error stating "entry in registry is invalid, choose close to terminate"
Is there a means of installng the updates CD8SP2EN.EXE, DR8RevB.exe & DR8Hlp.exe?

CorelDRAW 8 is NOT compatible with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. ONLY run it in the Windows 95/98 or Windows ME environment.

Somtime ago I had the same problem with Corel 9 SP, the solution was:
1. change the system date and hour to 1/1/1999 GMT +8
2. reboot
3. install updates
4 reboot
5. change the date and hour to current and set your timezone
Re: Can updates to Corel Draw 8 be installed in XP?
I only just discovered this forum.
I have been using Draw 8 in XP without problems for around 7 years. I recently upgraded my computer (still using XP) and re-installed Draw and have now been having random problems with saving files.
There is no pattern to the problem - one day it will open and save fine the next it will hang as soon as I hit the save button.
I have considered upgrading but I am not a heavy user and V8 does all I need so it is difficult to justify the cost.

based on what Jim said you had a good 7 years :)
several things might cause this - video/anti virus/cpu architecture - to mention but three

Accepting the truth of 'Handrawns' last post, I'd still try this one; Y2K wasn't an old wives' tale:

Same problem here. I changed 'CorelDRAW 8' start icon properties so that it starts now in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. Seems to work much better now .
