Xtreme to Corel
Hi, i need your help, what is the best way to export from xara to corel draw?
my niece designed some birthday invitations and i made them in xtreme and a guy a work in the print room has kinkly volunteered ;) to print them for me but he uses corel draw x4 and asked me for the file in a format he can use in corel i've exported in various file extensions .pdf, .ai. .eps and none will open correctly in corel, is there are way to do this or am i spinning my wheels trying?
i've attached the xara file, hope someone can help, thanks:)

Re: Xtreme to Corel
how about .tif ? - if its for print, a print quality bitmap should be ok ?
that said I am assuming draw will open .tif, I'm relying on memory here...

Re: Xtreme to Corel
hi, thanks for your reply, i appreciate it, i've downloaded a trial of corel and tried a .tif, it still looks a little pixalated (sp) but i'll take it in to work tomorrow and hope its a winner :)

Re: Xtreme to Corel
your print guy will be able to advise what resolution you need to save it at [I would say no less than 300dpi - but it will depend on the exact circumstances]

Re: Xtreme to Corel
i've exported it at 300dpi, it looks clear and not pixalated when zoomed in, so touch wood it will work.
not sure if he has much 'print experience', he mostly prints vinyl stickers and black print manuals so not used to graphics and hadn't heard of xara

Re: Xtreme to Corel
Corel 4 is ancient. And you're right it can't handle PDFs or anything like that.
TIFs or even JPGs if you want to keepthe file size down. And 300dpi will be fine.

Re: Xtreme to Corel
its graphix suite X4, not version 4, think it replaced version 11? because he said it doesn't work with the cutter whereas11 had an add on to work with it?
i think tif is going to give me a shot in getting them done :):)

Re: Xtreme to Corel
Makes a very large PDF file which comes into Corel 4 pretty well. Not great. There are some problems. But if you have Corel 4 and want to e-mail me I can send you a link to the file (it's about 14-5 MB)
Though TIFF at 300dpi is probably the best solution.

Re: Xtreme to Corel
thanks handrawn
Hi Gary, thanks, but pdf wouldn't import properly into X4,
handrawns' solution worked, (thanks again :) ) i exported as tif and although the background colour changed a little, i got the quality i needed so they could be printed. My niece was really excited when she seen them printed, i think it came as a big surprise as it looked like we'd hit a dead end until i asked for help on here
:)
