Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
SIMPLEVIEWER Flash photo gallery is a small neat XML based flash gallery script which is simple to embed via a placeholder into your Web Designer page requiring just one flash file (viewer.swf) to be referenced.
It makes short work of creating a quick photo gallery with custom graphic headers and footers created in Web Designer.
Example: Matsumoto & Nagoya Photos from 2008
SIMPLEVIEWER Script is free and available here
(Also available as a PICASA HTML template, making initial gallery creation even simpler)
I used a pasted screenshot of the gallery (run in a standalone window) as the placeholder for design/positioning purposes within WD.
Some of John's (Covoxer) tweaks were used for the background (optional).
Please see other forum threads regarding file placement, exporting and publishing help.
Re: Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
Steve that is a nice free Flash Gallery and thanks for giving that info. Liked the car slides and the plywood prototyping mould used. I used to work in Longbridge for Austin too many years ago and the same type of mould was used but it was then filled with clay.
Re: Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
Steve - In your example where does the simpleviewer part stop and the Xara-WD page start? I suppose what I'm asking is everything we see on your example page part of the simpleviewer? For instance is all the text above the gallery created in Xara-WD or simpleviewer? How about that background? - Is it part of the simpleviewer?

Re: Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
Ross, The SV area lies between the two tapered lines I drew on the page.
SIMPLEVIEWER loads the thumbnails and main image along with the nav arrow, image label and it's own small branding. Everything else is WD
The SIMPLEVIEW viewer.swf has a transparent background, so your WD background (or anything else you put on the page) will show beneath the SV flash elements.
Being flash, shrinking the WD placeholder (size) does also reduce the size of the viewer.swf display.
Re: Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
Thanks Steve. I have an interest in simpleviewer -- I've been thinking about using it in a major redesign of my site that I haven't got to yet...
I note to anyone interested in Simpleviewer and the like that there's a guy I know (from the 3d SketchUp world) who's developed an commercial extended version (licenced) of the related tiltviewer that can be used as a document serving system. It for instance allows you have a gallery of images of PDF's or zip archives available for download. It is a very impressive extension of Tiltviewer! You can find info here: http://www.cadmango.com/
Given Steve's success in using Simpleviewer with Xara-WD I imagine the Publo systems could be used too.

Re: Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
Funny you should mention TiltViewer Ross.
I used that particular Flash image viewer with a site I did last year using Xtreme 4's newly introduce HTML design and output feature.
Though not embedded as SV actually is. I might play around with TV in WD next, should work fine I would imagine.
Re: Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
Your site looks great!
Have a look at the site I linked above -- I think you'll enjoy seeing how the flipped images can allow you to download the related document. The other thing Cadmango has done is automate the creation of the actual galleries. Very easy. I think he calls it "rapid publication".

Re: Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
Hmm - I can't see any galleries or the use of TiltViewer anywhere on that site Ross?
Could you check for what I might have missed :o
Re: Embedding SIMPLEVIEWER Flash Gallery
If you follow the navigation to products go to 'Publo' and see the sample sites.
