How to force XWD to reuse the same image
I have an image that reoccurs on multiple pages. XWD makes a PNG for each image, and gives them each a different name, even though I've pulled them all from the same file in the Bitmap Gallery. This also happens if I reuse the same Xara vector object (using cut and paste).
For the best performance I would like the image to transfer to the users browser once, then access it from the browser cache for the other pages.
Anyone know how I can force this without editing each HTML page manually?
Thanks!
Iboy

Make sure that all your copies of the same object are exactly pixel aligned.
Re: How to force XWD to reuse the same image
Thanks John. That did the trick.
Since I have different size Web pages, and since XWD's default is to show the zero Y coordinate at the bottom of the page, I had to:
- Page Options
- Grid and Ruler
- Check mark 'Coordinate directions' 'Y increases -- Downwards'
I had to do it for each page, but it only took a minute. I set the graphic to the same X & Y coordinate like you said, and Voila -- I just decreased my site size by a lot.
Thanks!

Does using REPEATABLE OBJECTS use the same image as well?

Yes.

What about using the same small image in numerous positions?
Normally this is simple. <img src=blob.png> for each position.
With WD if I use blob.png 20 times on a page, but in different positions, I get 20 exported images.

If your image has a whole pixel size and is pixel aligned in different positions you should get one copy exported.
