Re: Web Designer page sizes
Hi Curtis,
The sizes offered allow for the scrollbar on the right side of a browser window.
Page sizes vary alot on the web but those offered are very common.

As I found out the hard way. :)
Re: Web Designer page sizes
It seems that the 640pix width (VGA) would not allow for a vertical scroll bar ... ?
I note, by the way, that the Xara.com website is about 940pix wide.
Re: Web Designer page sizes
The 955 is a good compromise.
The stats across my website show less than 5% of people use under 1024x768 resolution.
Re: Web Designer page sizes
The 640 pixel width is common on the web. I don't think allowance for scrollbar is included because a 640 x 480 screen width has not been common since Windows 3.0. Windows 95 defaulted to 800 x 600.
I believe that Xara has a 3rd party company create their website.
Xara Group Ltd has a small group of employees and they are hard pressed to create excellent software. I can see why they would hire another company to maintain their website. :)
Re: Web Designer page sizes
Although my screen resolution is 1280x1024, my browser window invariably occupies only part of that real estate. I think the 955 option might be just about right for what I have in mind. At least, I think the Xara site is a comfortable size.
Am I correct in assuming that there is no need to leave any whitespace/margin around the xWD pages when laying out a design? If I were doing printed matter, for example, it would be important to allow for printing limitations, binding, etc.

I know in XX4 the website went right to the edge of the 'paper' with no worries.
Re: Web Designer page sizes
Curtis it has been a long time since I had anything professionally printed but I do not recall having to compensate for binding. The printer used my word document without any changes.
Re: Web Designer page sizes
I use 1040, 780 and 480 variants. Seems to work very well in test.
