Welcome to Talkgraphics.
If you simply drag and drop an animation into Web Designer it will not work.
You would need to import the animation to see the individual frames. And preview the animation
If you create your own animation the preview works easily.

Animations are inserted via 'Placeholders'
Place a rectangle the same size as the gif animation on your page, right-click >> Web Properties, go to Placeholder tab and select 'Replace with graphic file'.
It's important to make sure that you have the graphic file in the folder to be exported and published (typically index_files.htm)

Thanks! I do have animation now, but should I only see the rectangle and not the actual gif while working on my project?
Yes, you will only see the placeholder rectangle while working within WD.
You can use any object as a placeholder in WD. The rectangle is a usual choice because it clearly shows the area given for the placeholder. But you can use a bitmap if you which. This can make your design easier to work with.Quote:
