Re: copy and paste doesn't
What are you copying? If you have imported a raster image you cannot simply copy it from Xtreme and try pasting it into Xara3D.
You must have selected some vector object(s) within Xtreme and copy to the clipboard.
If you have drawn over a raster image within Xtreme you need to not select it along with any vectors when you copy to the clipboard.
Re: copy and paste doesn't
Here is what HELP says:
If you are using Xara X¹ or later (add to the existing heading)
In Xara X copy the object you wish to use (Ctrl-C, or select edit then copy).
Switch to Xara3D and paste the object (Ctrl-V, or select edit then paste).
So, I have an image in Xtreme. Why doesn't this work for me?
Re: copy and paste doesn't
Which version of Xara3D are you using?
I do not think versions before Xara3D6 support paste from Xtreme.
If you are using Xara3D6 make sure the work area has the application's focus by left clicking within the area, then try to paste.
If you are getting a large rectangle or square shape then you are trying to copy and paste a raster image rather than vector shapes.
Re: copy and paste doesn't
Also, if I save it in Webster 2, I cannot import it:
"This file does not contain any outlines."
Can you show me where in the documentation it is revealed how to do this?
Thanks.
Re: copy and paste doesn't
Please provide details.
Did you draw shapes or simply import a bitmap (raster) image?
Did you save to the default .web format or export to a raster format?
Without details there are millions of possible things that we do not know to provide you with an accurate answer.

Re: copy and paste doesn't
Open the attached xar file. Select the shape. Copy.
Open X3D and Paste.
Does this work?

Re: copy and paste doesn't
Hi guys. Yes, I have tried to copy a simple shape which I created in XtremePro4, like a star, and am successful.
I opened a PSD file and saved the image as .XAR, then copied and couldn't paste. I exported as raster file, as EMF, as WMF. When I try to import as any of XAR, WMF, etc., all that results is the attached print screen, saved as xar file, which is just an extruded square.
I really appreciate both of you helping me with this.
Thanks,
Rick
Re: copy and paste doesn't
a shape made in xara that way is a vector shape
an image imported from psd format is not - such an object always has a rectangular shape because it is a bitmap image - and bitmaps are always rectangular in outline, even when part of them is transparent.
you can only import or cut and paste vector objects into xara3D
you will need to trace the psd image so that you get a vector shape
