vector fill - like in flash
hello everybody,
I often have to 'convert' wireframe CAD-files into technical illustrations.
There is a handy FILL-command in flash, that I usually use for this purpose,
since one can make it tolerant against minor gaps which often apear
in CAD-imports especially when they come from 3D-packages.
There seems to be no such command in xara (as yet) ...at least I can find none.
Does anyone know, if there is a workaround in xara extreme 4 pro?
best regards

...Is there any forum for feature suggestions?
Re: vector fill - like in flash
There is currently no vector fill tool; it would be a useful addition.
Another way of doing it might be to use 'Add shapes' on the objects around the edge of the area you want to fill in, then draw a box inside and 'Subtract shapes' to grab the outline. A fair bit more work in the case of a complicated drawing though.
Re: vector fill - like in flash
if the file is still a vector when imported into xara, you can always just add a node or two to "connect the dots".
If it imports as a bitmap, then make it a stained glass transparency, and draw your vector shapes behind to "color" it.
Re: vector fill - like in flash
or you could use inkscape 0.46 which does have a vector fill tool that ignores gaps - and then import to xara via pdf - this will work with xara pro not sure about xtreme standard
