Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
I really like the Art Filter>Painting plug-in. However when you try to save a new preset it does not appear in the list of presets. When you try to save it again with the same name it gives the following error message:
"Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse 02387278 in Modul 'PCFx.dll'. Lesen von Adresse 00000030."
What is happening is that the preset is saved though not displayed or accessible and when re-saving the error message appears. I've tracked down where the preset is saved, then moved it into the directory where the Painting plug-in loads its list of presets, and it then appears/works the next time the plug-in is used.
Please fix this. Thanks.
Re: Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
It exports to the folder where the original picture(on which one would apply the effect) is taken from.
Shouldn't it export to the presetsfolder?

Re: Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
Hi Hans
It saves new presets to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Xara\Xara Xtreme 4\default\
And the plug-in reads the presets from:
C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Xara\XaraXtreme\4.0\PCFx\fx\art_presets\
So new presets never show up in the list of presets, unless you manually copy it there.
This is on an XP SP2 system.

Re: Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
agree
would prefer to save to specific user workspace folder [I see xxp4 puts a folder on c:\ when it installs but not sure what this is for ]
saving to the folder the image came from is not good

Hi Robert
Thats strange - doesn't do that on my system - it saved the painting preset to the image folder like Hans said - I checked the the application data area [which is user workspace ] and its not there
XP home SP2
EDIT: xxp4
Re: Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
Hi Steve,
What is happening is the preset is saved to a directory where it is not able to be used by the plug-in unless the user manually moves it. I don't care where the program puts it as long as the plug-in can then use it. Does that make sense?
Thanks for your reply.
Re: Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
Hi Steve,
I think we are talking about two different things. You can make all sorts of changes to your document with the plug-in by modifying various program settings. If you like the results you then go to the plug-in "presets" tab and save these settings so that you can apply them to other documents.
Re: Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
Hi Robert
Sure that makes sense - no problem :)
But the more information we can provide - the more helpful it is likely to be - there will be a reason for our systems doing something different - so for the record I am stating mine does the same as Hans
Re: Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
ok just seen your second post #7 - could be yes - I'll look at it :)
Re: Error saving presets in Art Filter > Painting plug-in
Hi Steve,
Ok I'm missing something, are you saying that you make changes within the plug-in to a document like changing the brush size and direction using the sliders, go to the preset tab, save this new preset by giving it a new name, then it appears within the list of presets, but is save in the same directory as the document?
