I'm trying to draw a little road map and rather than just use plain lines I wanted to have white roads with black edges.
I thought I would be able to create a new brush to achieve this effect but all my efforts have been in vain.
Any ideas on how I should proceed?

Danilc,
just draw your roads with a line width of i.e. 4 pixels. Then select all, convert lines to shapes, give it a white fill and black outline. You might want to join your road prior to converting them, so the intersections match with the outlines later on.

To add to what Jen's said.
I frequently create simple maps using this technique. Once all your road lines have been converted to shape, select all the lines and Combine Shapes... Add Shapes and now you have intersections.

You might like to look at my tutorial for creating a map, which is finally for use in a Flash application, but most of the points are valid for XaraX creations.
You can find it here.

I find that just using lines works fine, particuraly if you have to update the road later... How about interstates guys?
