Re: blending between groups
Confirmed.. I tried the same thing... and it changed the number of blends in the horizontal blend to the setting of the vertical... bug?
Re: blending between groups
After the first blend "convert to editable shape" (ctrl+shift+S) then do your 2nd blend.

Re: blending between groups
It is interpeting you second blend as a continuation of the first. You have to change it from a blend, by converting it to an editable shape, or maybe you could try grouping the first blends then it is blending 2 groups, not 2 blends...
Hey... it is worth a try... don't have time to test it at the moment tho...:)
Just got home and tested it. if you group each blend, then blend each group it works the way you think it should. It is still editable and you have X number of steps in one blend and Y number in the other.

Re: blending between groups
Yes , it seems the way that Xara treats 2 dimensional blends -- creating sqare matrix , the option with convertin initial blends into editable shapes works ok, thank you.
Re: blending between groups
Oh my, I managed to achieve an internal program error. I created a neat 2-dimensional matrix blend, then changed the object in the upper left corner to a shape ("convert line to shape"). The blend breaks, and after this you get "Internal program error 3140.k.no.dr".
I was able to reproduce it with another two-way blend. Here's how:
1) Create a shape
2) Duplicate it
3) Create a blend between the shapes
4) Group the blend
5) Duplicate the group
6) Create a blend between the two groups
This creates the matrix blend. Then:
7) CTRL-select any of the objects in the ends of the blend (in the corners)
8) Arrange -> Convert Line to Shape
The blend breaks. After this, if you try to edit/move the converted shape, you get the internal error.

Re: blending between groups
blending between blends converted to editable shape solves the problem. Now the challenge is putting them at the rite angle to fit on different sides of roofs at different perspective.
Re: blending between groups
To do the perspective, I would think you would have to create the blends with the perspective built in... The backmost tiles would have to be resized smaller, then make you blends...:)
