can somebody help me with the exact way of getting the menus i create published, pleeease? do specific ones HAVE to be sent first? exactly which file needs to reside with the main html file to make them work? i've tried every combination and i cannot get my menu on the net for nuthin. any help is GREATLY appreciated! thanks!

Hi boojer,
More often than not, the problem is in the directory structure. You are placing things in a main directory that should be in a subdirectory or visa-versa. Look at the code (source) and look for the text after the link tags... <a href=main/sub/sub-sub/buttonbar.js.
Create the same type of directory structure on the net and it should work fine as long as you have all the parts uploaded. A missing .gif is a missing button, a missing .js is a missing navigation bar.

i run xp pro, i use the ftp and dreamweaver. i've even tried just sending the files to the right folder thru ftp rather than uploading from dreamweaver. since the xara company appear to be ghosts, i don't think i'll be getting my money back, so i'd like to figure this out. thanks for ANY help!

What you are looking at is the java script that makes your navbar dynamic. Does the script (Navbar )work on your computer and just not on the net? If nothing works on the net make sure you have "bizzy.js" and "Bizzy.gif" uploaded to the same directory on the server as you do on your computer.
Many times I have seen problems on the net when people use upper and lower case in there file names. Windows treats "A" the same as "a" whereas the net treats them as 2 totally separate characters. You come up with a file not found error on the net when the thing works perfectly on your computer.

i had a feeling it WAS a structure problem, but i thought i had my files right. not. but i also wasn't applying it to the page properly (i don't think anyway). so i tried something different. made the menu, opened the html file, copied the script text and then pasted that into my web page where i wanted it. worked! but i don't like that you can't see the menu on your page while you're working on it. once again, thanks for taking the time to reply.
i forgot to add...i do know about keeping file names lower case, no spaces, etc. that was the easy habit to get into. now if only the others at work would do the same! what part of no caps, no hyphens, no mile long file names don't they understand?

I find that the books can your own skill can only teach so much. One learns the rest by answering others peoples questions and seeing the other view points. That is why this forum is so good. You can learn plenty in 20 minutes if you spend the time every day to read and respond.
i absolutely agree! sometimes when you spend too much time on something, your frustration will pigeon hole you, so to speak. it helps to break away and read somebody else's perspective. it's amazing how hearing the same explanation or thought, in different words, can help you out of that hole. thanks so much. :-)
