Hi Tonyglyph,
Welcome to Talkgraphics.
If you export (save as) your Illustrator vector as .wmf you can import it into Xara3D.
Many thanks your swift reply much appreciated

Hi
Am informed there isnt a .wmf option in Illustrator ( Im working with Xara and a collegue is working in Illustrator). Any further info appreciated
Tonyglyph
Your informant is wrong. ;) There is a .wmf option in Illustrator (Menu "File" -> "Export" -> Filetype "Windows Metafile (*.WMF)").Quote:

Still having problems. Situation is I have a PC and work on Xara3D version 5. My collegue has a MAC and works on Illustrator. He has sent me two identical files one as wmf the other as emf. Both files about 2mb. Xara rejected as " not valid X3d File". He then resubmitted two files containing simple vector lines about 12k each to see if his files contained too complex data. Same response from XAra.
What are we doing wrong. Urgent response necessitated to avoid suicide....

Why not use AI file or EPS from the MAC? Xara Xtreme can support certain versions of both.
The problem with WMF (16 bit) and EMF (32bit) is that they are native to Windows Display Interface and are primarily meant to be copied to the clipboard and pasted into a document.
Tony,
All I can add is that 2Mb for an wmf or emf file is BIG.Perhaps you could post the 12k files?
Tony,
The error message saying "not a valid X3D file" sounds like you are using the File > Open menu instead of the File > Import menu.
Hi Thanks response
Current state:
Decided to download trial version Xara3d6 and see if any difference from my Xara3d5 version.
With version 6 able to load up emf and wmf files each of file size about 5k.
Then tried to load the larger more complex versions of 1.5-2.0 mb and this would not load with message saying that the files do not contain outlines.
Why should version 6 accept the files that version 5 doesnt.
Thanks
