Typewriter
A minor obsession for the past few days. Kiwi's PI typewriter was the inspiration for this one. Got nowhere with PI, so I fired up Corel Draw and started tracing. The eraser tool was very useful here. Helped clean up overshoots on line intersections. Also did a lot of mirror flips, tracing one side and mirror duplicating it to complete the parts. The multiple paths was finally merged into one huge compound path. So it's just one object, black outline, no fill....

Re: Typewriter
WOW...an excellent piece of work Grafixman :).

Re: Typewriter
I'll second that! But it's just begging for some fills, and gradients...

Re: Typewriter
:D .
It's not so bad. John. Although it IS an elephant compared to Xara, there are still some redeeming features in Draw. The import and export works better. There is an eraser tool (a wish someone posted at the Xara forum), hard to work with and never really explored mesh fill, multiple point mould tool, and better node control. These are some simple things Xara can easily implement but haven't. No tool is perfect. If it works, use it. :)
I think I'll give this project a rest for a while. Colors, maybe. There are still some details left out. Like the letters on the keyboard..... Geez, I must be going blind...

Re: Typewriter
Ahh!
So this is where you've been hiding GM?
Pity bout the PI, and I can't wait to see the typewriter filled in but so far it looks excellent to me.

Re: Typewriter
I came across a typeface, GMan that reminded me of your artwork.
The font would need to be distorted to work, but it has the "flavor" of the typewriter from vintage eras gone by.
