how do you create lightning?

i have a pic that is really cool but i want to add lightnig bolt to make it look sweeeet! and thats were you will enter this story...

You can download a demo of Alien Skin's "Xenofex 2". I think it's Alien Skin.com or, you can go to the The Plugin Site. They have plugins, too. KPT Procreate Effects can make lightning better than Xenofex in my opinion.
