Not that I want to draw attention away from Gary's outstanding circle, the thread of which I have been following with great glee, but I have a question.
Is it possible, in Xara, to make a paragraph flow around a graphic. I have to do a magazine ad and I would like to use this technique.
Thanks "y'all" in advance. ;O) J

Glad you liked my red circle. I was rather pleased with it myself :-)
Xara does not support image wrapping or run-around text.
You can fake it using the space bar and/or tracking adjustment as shown in the example below.

If you want to go to the trouble, here's another method.
Make your lines, join them, then place text on them. It becomes paragraph text on a path. The text will follow the order you make your lines, so beware of that. The hard part is adjusting it so text doesn't get chopped off at the end of the line. See attachment.

All is revealed. This seems to be the only thing I've come across so far that Xara doesn't support but your clever workarounds will do the trick.

I noticed a tidbit in the Xara help files that allows you to align the margin angle of a column text block. It's not really text wrapping, but could occasionally be useful.
The key is to attach the text to a two-segment line. The first segment is drawn perpendicular to the intended angle of the text column and short enough so that none of the letters of the text will fit on it. The second line segment is drawn where you want the text to be and defines the width of the block. You'll need to increase the text line spacing for steep-angled margins. An example is shown below.
You can actually use any shape of line you want, remembering that Xara's alignment of wrapped text below the first text line is determined by the angle of the first segment of the line you are attaching the text to.

Alex and Peter
Cool tips. I was not aware of either.
Ain't Xara something else?

I'm new to Xara and new to this forum but I'm learning something new everyday and meeting helpful friendly people along the way!
Thanks to all :0) J

Lack of wordwrap to objects is something that has troubled me for some time. I still hope for word wrap in issue 2 of XX; in about a years time!
Meanwhile these two work arounds will be a great help,
Tony
