I wanted to try something different for a change.I greatly admire the still life painting of the masters of old.I have nothing but admration for someone who can paint {with a brush} accurate perspective add accurate shadow and lighting also,I always feel spoilt when I can add a gradient in a 2d environment and create a light source,and I shudder at the thought of painting one which wraps accurately around all of the objects it touches and is created by a multitude of sable hairs and varying hues and tones of color.

I have to agree with Gary. There is something quite appealing about your image.

I think its the warm tones.My original idea was that underneath the wooden shelf could be a fire so Introduced warm tones for the wood and supplemented it with a warm sunlight color as well as opposed to just a little yellow http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Excellent, very natural. How do I know? It's simple: because nobody mentioned it. Otherwise we would have told you that there is something wrong but we definitely wouldn't be able to tell you what ;-}
Only one minor thought: the pic appears to be cut off at the bottom. 5 cm or 2 inch more in front of the candlelights would look more 'well rounded', but that's just my personal opinion.
Fun aside, looks like a cosy place to spend the rest of the day...
