I read a story in some e-mail newsletter that I subscribe to... he was selling a book over the internet, and at first he sold it for $9.99. He sold very few copies over the six months he he had it on sale at this low price. He then priced his book at $49.99 after reading about some marketing techniques. Sales went through the roof.
What I'm trying to say is that sometimes people will disregard a perfectly good product because of it's low price. They consider it to be cheap and nasty. This idea came to mind after reading Timo Heil post in the "Speed: Xara vs. CorelDraw" post ( http://talkgraphics.infopop.net/1/Op...8&m=1551981051 )
Maybe Xara should produce a new "PRO" version of Xara which has a few new features (esp. good seperation printing, etc.) and give this a hefty price tag (£3-400 ??). Of course they could give genuine users (us in the know) a small upgrade fee from the "Standard" version, maybe £5-10.
Maybe this will open the eyes of the small minded IT departments and graphics designers.
And if that doesn't work, then maybe they can add some bloated code to the "Pro" version, add some tools that nobody will ever use, clutter the interface, give us a million floating palletes that appear over the drawing everytime the program opens, and make it as slow as possible. Maybe then the Graphics Designers will like it more. ;-)
Of course, the standard version would stay as the lean, mean graphics machine we all know and love.
