However, I do not want it to be inverted.

Easiest way I know is to clone the curve, make the first curve 99% transparent, fit the text to the transparent curve (no line shows) and then adjust the cloned curve above the text line.
Probably another way, but this works and provides the opportunity to adjust the curve distance from the line.

Even easier is there is an option to hide the first line in my v18 (i.e. don't have the transparency step).
Or select all the text and apply a negative baseline shift.
With the Text fitted to the Curve already:
- XPro+/XDPX > Text Tool > Select All > Baseline Shift with a negative value, typically 120% of font height.
- XWD(P) > Text Tool > Text start > Press Return key & Select All > Adjust Line Spacing.
