My embedded form doesn't work properly when going to 'phone' mode
I have a very simple page - it has a heading and then a rectangular shape that has a form (iframe) inside it. I have a desktop and a mobile view of the form
However, when I preview it or export it as .htm, it doesn't work properly with any browser. What have I done wrong?
I've attached a zip file with my .web file inside and also the resultant .htm file from page 'formtest'. Would anyone have time to have a quick look?
cheers
Alan
Re: My embedded form doesn't work properly when going to 'phone' mode
I know the reason why and I know A fix. There could well be a better way though.
Both the mobile and main site are trying to use the same form, hence the doubling up.
The way I attack it is to create the form and save/export FORM_MAIN and then save/export again as FORM_MOBILE. Of course you can name them anything you like.
Stop sharing the Placeholders between variants and paste the appropriate code into each Placeholder as normal.
Now watch someone with some smarts come along and say "Just press this and it's all good." :D
Re: My embedded form doesn't work properly when going to 'phone' mode
Thanks Chris. But... The form is an external one (created in Cognitoforms) and I do not want to maintain two versions of it. Within the site, the two rectangles have been separately created - so it's just the iframe code that is the same.
if the only way is to maintain two forms, then this is a non-starter for me.

Alan, place the form on its own pace, making the page the sie of the IFRAME.
Then use separate Placeholder IFRAMES to link to the form.
More logically, just have a form page independent of the Xara design and if it is adaptive just make it appear in a new Tab or Window with a return to your site after form completion or close.

Re: My embedded form doesn't work properly when going to 'phone' mode
Acorn, it's not quite that simple. I need the cognito form to refer back to a privacy link on my web site. For an example, see here: http://mobiletest.gmnscouts.org.uk/adultenquiry.html.
So, I need the header from the web site. Otherwise I am adding the privacy statement link to every form and if it changes, I have to change it many times (I use that structure in lots of places).

Re: My embedded form doesn't work properly when going to 'phone' mode
Alan, what you do is create two websites. The second one, the form site, has the form and the privacy page.
The main site Privacy Policy link open the form site in a separate window.
No placeholders, no IFRAMEs, no duplicate forms.
The form has no fixed DIVs so it could probably be put in a fully adaptive page.

Which is what I have now with WebPlus - effectively two sites.
OK - let me have a think about all this.

Re: My embedded form doesn't work properly when going to 'phone' mode
I think this will work. When I start full screen, the full screen version is OK. When I start in phone sized browsing, that is OK too (tesing on my laptop). It's just the transition from one state to the other that gets everything confused. But on a phone or a desktop, who does that in real life?
We are progressing, slowly.

Alan, you can still have the case arising when a phone is changed from portrait to landscape.
