Corel own and developed 'Xara X' into the parallel Graphics software to 'CorelDraw' ..... right? 'CorelDraw' is supposed to be the Big Daddy but everyone here say 'Xara X' is so much easier to use and produces the same results. Viewing Gallery, backs up this theory as well as high recommendations from likes or Gary and Richard. I agree whole heartedly. So, what I don't understand is, 'why have two packages side-by-side producing the same results ?????' If 'Xara X' is so much cheaper, what does 'CorelDraw' still have over 'Xara X'?????
Could the bottom line be, that Corel just want money from two package sources ?

Corel didn't develope XaraX they were the disributers for Xara a few years back. then Xara got the distribution back and produces XaraX.
corel and Xara are two different companies Corel is Canadian..Xara is in England.
corelDraw suite is bundled suite of software than can produce flyers and page layout up to 999 pages and comes with CorelPaint a bitmap editing sofware.

I have only seen the CorelDraw side of things, being a user for several years. I had version 10 which I am familiar with but recently I got myself the newer version 11, so there are a few new things I have to get familiar with like creating repeated objects from a single sample object to save memory (in a similar way Illustrator v10 and Flash save space).
With CorelDraw and Xara X so compatible, with simplar ways to create similar effects, Xara X wins over simplicity of creation and produces the same results, I am told. I was just wondering why Corel did not amalgamate the simplicity of Xara X into their own product. ....... Maybe time will tell. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Corel when they licensed Xara several years ago, attempted to copy all of Xara's best features and in the process make Xara a redundant product. After they incorporated such Xara features as the Infobar (Property Bar), Anti-aliased display (so slow to redraw in version 7 it was made an option), interactive gradient fills, interactive gradient transparency, interactive on-screen controls, and a few other goodies, they pulled Xara from the dirtribution channels and figured that was it for Xara.
Not so. Xara realized what was happening and negotiated their way out of the Corel "marketing and distribution" contract. Xara X was a result of Xara's continuing innovation. And while CorelDRAW is a very powerful product, the tools it shares in common with Xara are poor imitations at best.
Hope this further answers your question.

I have been using corel since version 2, I'm by no means an artist just an engineer who wishes he had enough creativity... well I downloaded the XaraX demo 25 days ago and havent toched corel since!
I will buy it on the 30th day! Corel has lost its appeal for me... photopaint I still will use...
but for me the choice is Xara

XaraX is the clear winner by comparison to CorelDraw. While I like Corel I think it was a pretty dirty deal what they did to Xara a while back and the Karma is perfectly seen. XaraX is great software for the buck. I have been playing with other 'competitors' and while they are comparative in price they do not match the speed and productivity of Xara, nor the creativeness that can be achieved with this program. I am hoping that the next version will rock the socks off of everyone and I'm sure it will!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

in a newsletter on the Unleashed.com site, Corel is up for sale and their future is uncertain pending upon who purchases the company.

Richard --- Ashley is male so "Go get a copy girl..." probably doesn't apply. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif (I work with a guy named 'Carroll' - all the unsolicited mail for him assumes he is a woman).
