Insert layer
Hmm. The new layers are kind of welcome but a bit clunky (I can't say I get much use out of the ability so see individual objects - it is WAy quicker to just select them in the view especially with complex illustrations). I long of the double clicking to change layer properties to return and I would REALLY like to be able to insert a new layer above or below the layer I am working on. Having it automatically created on the top of the stack is unhelpful to me.

Re: Insert layer
I would also like to have new layers created on top of the current one.
Another thing is having to select a layer prior to create a new one, I always have to stop and think about it.
It's a two-click operation that shouldn't, and there's no 'new layer' keyboard binding possibility as far as I know

Re: Insert layer
when selecting the lowest layer it will create a new layer above current
not above the complete stack.
Simply create a default template with a background-layer.
when selecting this layer before creating new,it will create layer to lowest level in the stack.

Re: Insert layer
I think the point is that intuitively (and productivity wise) If I have to click on a layer to add a new one I don't expect it to appear on the top of the stack. Selecting the bottom layer and having the new layer appear above that is not much help. I usually want new layers above the layer I am working on.
