Is it possible to set a default charset i.e. UTF-8?
I'm using surreal cms for adding editable content to sites for some of my clients. To ensure surreal acts properly it's necessary for the charset to be UTF-8. I've been editing it to UTF-8 through notepad but anyone have any ideas as to how I can set it to UTF-8 using a placeholder, etc.

Could someone advise me on this, placeholder doesn't do the trick.

So creating a placeholder and naming it <HEAD> (yellow tag icon on toolbar) then adding this to the placeholder web properties (replace with html code) doesn't help?

Thanks sledger, no it didn't seem to, the original setting appears to override the change to utf-8. Perhaps I didn't enter it properly, I will copy what you have provided and see if that works.
