Fun with repelling text...
Version 4 offers the new repelling text feature. I just thought I try using a line with no colour to see if it would repell text. It won't but what does work is setting the line colour to match the background colour (so it looks invisible but still repells). I attach a simple example that shows the effect. The circle and arc are just lines while the ovals are shapes.

Ross - if you use Stained Glass transparency on white shapes and lines, then you can use whatever background colour/pattern/image you need without having to make your 'repellents' the same colour.

both good - depending on circumstances :)

Interesting Ross. Not all that easy to read but interesting. Really. :)

Re: Fun with repelling text...
I love the text repelling feature. One thing that could make it better is automatic (soft) hyphenation.
Re: Fun with repelling text...
The effect looks even better if you 'fully justify' the text, instead of aligning right.
Re: Fun with repelling text...
I tried to do a Flash animation with a sphere bumping into and moving the text but it does not work. It did on an earlier release. It must have been fixed. :D
What happens now is the text in the repelled position replaces the non-repelled text on the frames on which it appears.
Frances - That's really clever. :)
