How to change the color of a black raster image
Hello,
I'd appreciate your help. As shown in this screencast (http://bit.ly/2MTIUlY), I couldn`t change the HUE of a black image, for instance, to Green.
By using Photoshop (also in the screencast), I could change the color through two methods:
Method 1- Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation (then check “colorize”).
Method 2- Image>Adjustments>Selective color (then select “black”).
How to change the color of a black raster image using Xara Designer?
Thank you,
Carlos
Re: How to change the color of a black raster image
try right click on a colour on the xara colour line and select change dark colour
if this works you can use the colour editor to amend [colour editor calls it dark contone]
edit - if it's a straight black, black/white, image you could probably go straight to the colour editor

Handrawn's suggestion is the simplest. But here is another way that works, especially if you need to apply more than one color.
If the image is simply black and white, add a rectangle with a color or colors above the black and white. Apply a Flat, Screen transparency. The color applies to the black areas only.
Now you can make a new bitmap copy, True Color (no Alpha).

Or place it in front of something having the desired color, select both, right click, apply opacity mask, right click again, opacity mask, invert opacity mask.

More than one way to skin a cat or color a black and white image. :)
Re: How to change the color of a black raster image
Thank you all for the directions! It is very convenient to change black raster in XDP.
Just one question has remained, as shown in the screencast: http://bit.ly/32vnRg0
It refers to this method:
"If the image is simply black and white, add a rectangle with a color or colors above the black and white. Apply a Flat, Screen transparency. The color applies to the black areas only.
Now you can make a new bitmap copy, True Color (no Alpha)."
After creating the bitmap copy (True Color / no Alpha), the new bitmap is not preserving the Screen transparency.
Is it possible to create that bitmap with transparency somehow?
Cheers,
Carlos

Yes. When you create the bitmap copy, select True Color. The True Color + Alpha does not work for this.
Re: How to change the color of a black raster image
you need to use clipview before you make the bitmap copy so that your shape [which is behind] clips your rectangle [that is in front] - that way you will not get the colouration extending beyond the shape and you can use true colour plus alpha if you wish

Re: How to change the color of a black raster image
Or try the opacity mask approach, the white and transparant parts are automatically made transparent there.
Re: How to change the color of a black raster image
yes, infact you would have to use opacity mask if it's a bitmap image, something I overlooked, sorry
