I wanted a sphere that reversed itself. The stereogram shows the shape I wanted and the depth image shows the shape I created with three objects.
Anyone want to guess how I did this?

SLICE?
Larry- Try it and see if it works.
OK
zooming in, you have some interesting markings along the 'equator' ;)

A clue perhaps?
it is...the little gray cells on which one must rely :)
OK.
- I created a circle with a 4px outline, no fill. I converted the circle to shapes separated the circle in the center so that I had two arcs.
- I added a 4px line in the center and added a point in the center. The two arcs and the line were converted to shapes.
- I applied a circular fill changing the outside colors so that one fill was lighter in the center and the bottom one darker in the center. The inside colors and the line/shape are all 50% black.
- The line/shape also had a circular fill but both inside and out were 50% black.
- I blended the top arc to the line/shape, and then the bottom arc to the line shape.
- Then I increased the number of blend steps to create a smooth shape.
blending - I thought so as soon as I saw those markings and the fading along the circumference either side of the 'equator' ends - but not sure exactly how you had put it together
nicely done :)
