first thing to try is this:

Thanks)) I fixed it. I did as you said but that didn't change anything. I checked my monitor display settings. I recently replaced my monitor and the Painter 9.1 didn't like the setting I had.:-O

glad you got it sorted - monitor and graphics card would have been the next up to look at sure
painter 9 is pretty old now to be running on modern systems
the new painter 2015 is tempting me sorely to upgrade :D
