This is a piece of personal retouching using P'shop. No 3rd party filters. The way I got the exposure up is to convert the pic to 16 bits per pixel so major adjustments would fit into the =gamma of the pic without clipping. Then I used the Exposure command, not Levels, not Curves.

These are a historically accurate render of doubloons, not pieces of eight and not your archetypal Pirates of the Caribbean doubloons which were made from silver.
These are replicas of gold doubloons used in Mexico and Spain. It tool about a month to sculpt them from detailed bitmaps of both sides, and then I just duplicated them to make the scene.

Script fonts for soda or beer will work, but use your imagination! I've included a swash for you in the Xara file. I used Ballpark Franks.otf, which is free in you look around your favorite font resource.

It's just stunning how short the life of the CFT was/is. Incandescents were still sold when the CFTs came out and the cool white made everyone look like a corpse.
So I salute the short-lived but long-life Fluorescent bulb.
