Pop-Out Effect
I have a drawing I created that I'm fairly happy with. It has a ship appearing through a lifebelt.
I'm happy with the fade in of the vessel through the belt but I'd like to get the bow section (not completed drawing yet) pop-out more from the lifebelt.
Any suggestions on how to achieve this please?

Re: Pop-Out Effect
Perhaps the foreshortening effect should be stronger, bigger in the front and smaller at the rear.

Re: Pop-Out Effect
Perhaps use a ship with more perspective and have it extending past the ring.

And more shadow under the ship and under the preserver ring.

Re: Pop-Out Effect
Similar to #5 Egg, some shadow under the hull and preserver. BTW I like the image a lot :)

Re: Pop-Out Effect
Thanks for all the assistance. Unfortunately changing the perspective was not an option, far to much redrawing, so I've gone along with AndFar & Stygg's suggestion. I'm pleased with the final result.

Re: Pop-Out Effect
I really like that Egg. The increased shadow makes a difference. Perhaps a bit of ocean waves at the bottom of the ship like in sadler's example above and perhaps the addition of some bespoke vector shadows with extra transparency stops to provide a bit of extra depth?
I quickly painted in some just to give the idea I'm sure you could do much better.

Ah! Thanks Frances. That reminded me I'd forgotten the wake!
