The January Giveaway: Fourteen Textures for 2014!
Someone had posted something about wanting more textures last year, and it wasn't even Barbara. :)
So this month, I knocked myself out (something several members would pay to see) and created a Baker's Dozen + 1 seamless tiling textures, which is the long-way about saying, "Hey! There's a lot of cool, free textures if you click here!"

Have fun with them, let's see what you create using them, and instruction for loading them in the Fill Gallery are found in the Giveaway text...and it really should be skywriting, because the question gets asked twice a week on tg.
My Best,
Gary

@ Frances—
You got a solid winner with the cookies if you open up the midtones a little.Sad to say, that pattern was dark to begin with, I know.
@Richard—
I can't wait either! It's always a gas to see what talented people do with the products of my imagination!
My Best,
Gary

Great job with those Maya! I love the peanut brittle.
Here is another idea for using the textures. The background texture is simply a rectangle filled with the burlapse of memory and adjusted with the photo tools (hue saturation etc) the doiley was done using my snowflake maker and a suggestion by Christine Farrely in that thread to apply a bit map transparency to the master shape of the snowflake maker. The paper hearts are red hearts with a layer filled with the mars surface blended with a stained glass transparency set at about 34% Add in some drop shadows and it's a happy valentine's day :)
Re: The January Giveaway: Fourteen Textures for 2014!
@Maya—most impressive, especially considering you don't have the benefit (or burden, depending on your opinion) of watching the videos!
I think I'm just going to continue semi-periodically throwing stuff out there that I myself can't find a purpose for, and watch you talented folks come up with inspired artowrk.
I love the valentine, Frances; don't push the holidays, though, okay? We have stores here that are beginning to put up St. Patty's Day dreck!
It took me a moment to realize what the texture was. Nice recoloring work, nice thought process!
My Best,
