The Mating Game
This post is, for me "The One After 909". "What is he on about?" I hear
you ask. And well you might, it's the right band, but the wrong album
as far as the attachment is concerned. Rather than just using the
Magic Wand Tool in PSP to select the album title, I hand traced it in Xara.
I don't think the Warhol estate will be bothered about my fake cans
flooding the market. Although I hand traced a lot, you may notice
that the fonts for "Campbell's" and "Soup" are different. Why bother
hand tracing? To get the effect of the can on the left, which I couldn't
get with a bitmap image. Unless any of you know any better?
The idea of this challenge is to mate one object with another,
and to produce unique and amusing offspring.
It could be 2 movies, ie "Walk The Line" and "Wag The Dog"
might produce another movie: "Walk the Dog". Or "Saving Private Ryan" and
"Private Benjamin" to create "Saving Private Benjamin".
I'm sure you get the idea.
All you have to do is illustrate parts from both movies to create it.
it could be done in the way I've done my attached example, or it
could be using photo manipulation of the cd/dvd covers involved.
I must stress that this is not my original idea, but it is a reworking of
something that I fist saw on the worth1000.com website.

Books, albums, song titles or whatever you like to mate. You may create hybrids,
that is to say, mate a book with a movie, or an album with a movie, or even all three,
or even anything else that comes to mind. Use any graphic software you want.

Bob.

Re: The Mating Game
Don't know why I came up with this. Didn't spend to much time on it.

Re: The Mating Game
My first piece of photoshopping made entirely with Xara.
Some text at the very bottom I had trouble concealing,
but I figured I had spent enough time on this.
Enjoy.

Re: The Mating Game
This is all very good stuff :) Might be a delayed reaction from here though - inspiration mode not co-operating so far :(

Re: The Mating Game
Thanks, John. Probably a bit parky right now for your inspiration remedy.
Have you had much snow in Manchester? We had a few flurries today.
Bit taters here, too.
Hope the inspiration strikes soon:
Gone With The Wind In The Willows.
Annie Given Sunday.
Being Erin Brockovich.
Breakfast at Hannibal's
Moby Dick Tracey
Next Night On Earth
Fiddler On The Town
Ocean's Twelve Monkeys
Withnail And Isolde
Rescue Dawn French
Just go for it, I'm not saying that all of these will work, however.
Saludos,
Bob.

Re: The Mating Game
A few flurries yesterday. Not put my nose outside today. But a terrible event has occured in Manchester ... Liverpool were beaten by Utd!.
I shall endeavour to soldier on however with some Xara-therapy. Thanks for the list :)
