Pop-Up Photo Feature Question
Hello,
I have a question regarding the Pop-Up Photo feature in Web Properties.
Is it possible to set the Pop-Up to pull a different image than the one you've dropped on the page? Meaning that when you click on the image on the site it pulls up a different image than the one the user would click on?
Also, a different question...can you import an image for use on the site without having to drop it directly onto the page?
Re: Pop-Up Photo Feature Question
superheroic, you can link from anything to open a pop-up layer that contains an image, so you could have a Thumbnail to a completely different image.
You can create a Placeholder and then in Web Properties > Placeholder, pick Replace with graphic file.
The file can be anywhere into you local or networked folders.
This will add the image file into a Support folder so that on Publish is is copied into the index_htm_files folder.
If you Export website, the file is added into the index_htm_files folder directly.
If you have a clutch of files you want to refer to from an Images sub-folder, you add the Images folder with images directly into the Support Folder.
Read https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...Support-Folder.
Finally, if you already have a separate PoshImages folder uploaded, you can create a Placeholder and add code into its Body, the simplest being <img src='../PoshFolder/image01.webp' width=100% height=100% />.
What I do is drop the image onto the page, ensure it is in the Support Folder and then use Replace with graphic file.
The image is not then saved with the design XAR/WEB , keeping it small.

Re: Pop-Up Photo Feature Question
Sorry...Acorn...using a pop-up layer is different than using the Pop-Up Photos feature in Web Properties, isn't it?

superheroic, that right. A pop-up layer can hold lots of additional content: Captions, Links, Buttons, more clicks to other pop-ups, ... It becomes a heady and feature rich tool that needs to be kept reined in.
A Pop-up picture can be for a single image but only that that is linked. It is highly constrained; if you add a border and a shadow and group all these, that is what pops up. The picture pop-up uses HighSlide JS to add in a simple carousel, lightbox features and the like.

OK...so If I'm creating a custom gallery of images on my page and I need the image displayed from the pop-up to be different than what is displayed on the page...I should use a pop-up layer...not the Pop-Up feature in Web Properties?
My understanding from the manual is that pop-ups created from a pop-up layer become active as soon as you mouse over the image. Is that correct? A user wouldn't be able to click on the image to bring up the pop-up? The pop-up would happen immediately if someone rolls over the image on the page with their mouse?
Also, if I use a pop-up layer...could the pop-up image be an animated gif...as opposed to a still image?

superheroic, how many ways to say the same information?
Do not use Link > Pop-up photo. What you want is not possible with this.
When you use Link > Pop-up layer, this opens when you click on the object with the Link, not on hover.
You can put anything in a Layer that is opened as a Pop-up, so an animated GIF will show but you may open it mid-frame; it is not triggered to start when opened.
Only items linked to the MouseOver layer display on hover.
To otherwise get a Mouse-over effect you use Web Animation > Mouse-over.

OK...great. Thank you for clarifying. I appreciate it. Looks like I'll have to go do some reading on Pop-Up layers now. I appreciate your patience.
