Can't import Scalable Vector Graphics (svg)
Xara Designer Pro has an impressive-looking import format list, but I'm suprised to see that it can't import .svg files. Wondering if anyone knows why - or if this can be put on a 'wish list'.
The reason I would like to open an .svg file is that there is an awesome new resource being built up of symbols called the noun library. http://www.thenounproject.com/
All the files are in .svg format (which I'd imagine was intentional to ensure that lots of folks can open them. Check it out - they're trying to raise $ on kickstarter to enable the growth of the library.
Cheers!

You may be able to find a conversion utility but I agree support for SVG would be very excellent.
If you know anybody with a copy of Illustrator you can open the file and either export as PDF, AI or copy and paste into Xara.
If they are trying to raise funds then perhaps EPS or AI or even PDF would appeal to more people.

Re: Can't import Scalable Vector Graphics (svg)
I've been opening them in Inkscape and then firing them over via .pdf. Even exporting .eps from Inkscape wasn't working for me last night. I've got an older version of .ai, so no worries. Just wanted to point out this shortcoming in Xara.
Thanks.

ok - we cross posted I think :)
Re: Can't import Scalable Vector Graphics (svg)
I was just informed of some interesting background regarding SVG and Xara. http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...143#post209143
There was also a poll taken here at TG, and folks didn't find it all that useful.
Satisfied:D

Is it just me?
Because when I click on the link in the OP (http://www.thenounproject.com/), I just get a sort of a blank page saying 'Loading Nouns...' on a green bar in the centre of the page and that's it!
Re: Can't import Scalable Vector Graphics (svg)
ah yes I see that you were ;) [replying to edm3 post #6]
SVG is mostly used in open source where folks won't, can't, or are unable due to cost, to use proprietary formats such as PDF
it's alive and kicking, I don't see it dying a while yet unless adobe make PDF file format free, but it's not going to be a priority in paid for software that has licensed PDF IMO

This may be part of a political comeon, use caution, go to the bottom of the page and click on that website of the writer and you will see what I mean.
