Thank you, I have tried to add an image to this reply, but I don't think it was successful.
In the laser program I can create a file that will cut, but it cuts each letter, and does not link the letters into a word. So in Xara I am trying to create an AI file of a name to send to laser cutting program. I need the word / name to link together as one continuous cut. However, I only seem to be able to export a text file from xara as an image, not an ai file. The Laser program cannot cut an image file, it can only etch an image file. Attachment 122702

OK I think what you need to do is select the text then Arrange > Combine Shapes > Add Shapes (or press Ctrl + 4) You will lose the ability to edit the text as it will be made into a shape so best to save a copy with the text as text in case you need to edit.
