Adding images to a nav bar?
Could this possibly be anymore difficult? I had a nav bar and wanted to add images to it. When I went to add the image to each menu item it told me I needed to ungroup the nav bar first. Ok, I add the image to each menu item, no problem. But in the instructions it said to "regroup the bar after editing, then switch on the nav bar"?
What? How do I "regroup the bar" after editing? :-O

Re: Adding images to a nav bar?
OK. Take a deep breath. :)
Start over. Create a new button: Mouse Off and Mouse Over versions on the appropriate layers.
Select the two button states and Arrange > Apply Soft Group.
Now create a new Nav Bar.

OK, but where does the adding images to each menu item come in?

Re: Adding images to a nav bar?
Hi, for step #4, when I draw the rectangle with the selector tool, I'm then suppose to select a "soft group". My options when I do this are
1. "Copy file placeholders (soft group) or
2. "Lock File Placeholders" (soft group)
Which do I choose?

OK, here's the message that pops up when I do this....
"Please select the buttons designs to build the bar from. Each button design should be a group containing a button label text object. A button can be given more than one state when soft grouping design groups on different layers."
So it won't work!

hi just select both layers step 4 then goto top menu arrange >apply soft group
Re: Adding images to a nav bar?
Each button must have text. I should have mentioned that. In order for WD to create a nav bar from the button you create, the button must have some text. I format the text center justified and center the text on the button and then group the text to the button.
When WD creates the nav bar, it automatically changes the text to the page name you created when you created the new pages. You can change the names on the buttons but editing the nav bar and changing the text in the Navigation Bar Properties menu.
So, let me take a deep breath and back up.
Create your button shape, apply your image, add your text and group.
Copy and paste this button onto the MouseOver layer. Make your modifications to the mouse over button state.
Select both states and Apply Soft Group.
Now you can create your navigation bar.
My bad. Sorry. I should have mentioned the text part.
Re: Adding images to a nav bar?
How do I select "Both" layers? I don't understand, sorry about this!

Re: Adding images to a nav bar?
when you have 2 groups on 2 layers [1 on mouseoff - 1 on mouseover] align them 1 above the other draw a rectangle around them with the selector tool then arrange>apply soft group
