DPX19 thinks I'm not online...
Just loaded up DPX19 up or the first time in a while and it thinks I'm not online (I am).
Checking for updates returns the message "You need to be online to use this feature".
Any attempt to get Fills / fonts etc returns "Could not establish an internet connection."
Insert From Content Catalogue does nothing at all, it does not come up but neither do I get any error messages.
What can I do?
Re: DPX19 thinks I'm not online...
run the program as administrator [once] may fix it, worth a try
Re: DPX19 thinks I'm not online...
if not, then it is possible that your security software [firewall av] is blocking it...
Re: DPX19 thinks I'm not online...
I have a similar issue, but have been ok living with it over the years as I don’t use the online content. In my case I’m pretty sure, as handrawn mentions, it’s my security settings mucking things up.
I did at one time contact support and they had a trouble shooting process to follow. I still have the steps (shown below) but I’m afraid not the details. I would suggest contacting them for further help.
- Check Windows Updates
- Check Firewall Settings
- Check Anti-Virus Settings
- Check Proxy Settings
- Perform a Clean Boot
- Generate a log file
Re: DPX19 thinks I'm not online...
Thanks for both for your replies.
I've tried running as administrator and with my Windows Firewall turned off, but no luck. I don't use any third party Anti-virus software, just whatever comes as part of Windows 10.
How would I do these?
Check Proxy Settings
Perform a Clean Boot
Generate a log file
One thing to note is that I've changed my ISP since I last used XDP, could that be connected? N.B. we've had no issues at all with any other hardware or software following the ISP change.
Cheers.
Re: DPX19 thinks I'm not online...
do you have any third party security software - eg malwarebytes
Re: DPX19 thinks I'm not online...
No, I'm just using vanilla Windows 10. I'm using the exact same PC setup that was working fine when I last used XDP OK.
I've just submitted a support ticket with Magix. I've not done this in years but they've been reasonably quick responding in the past.

clean boot [the modern equivalent of 'safe mode']:

proxy settings - unless you are in a work environment, or access the web through a VPN, not likely to be an issue, but if you want to check then type into a CMD window netsh winhttp show proxy [and hit enter] - it should come up with direct access
if there is no proxy set up
